My GA handdicapped card was in the windshield and a manual wheelchair and walker plainly visible in our backseat. We live in a tiny Georgia town so permit lots are not something we are accustomed to. The sign was very obvious we just did not see it. An hour later we camed out and had a $20 parking ticket for parking in a permit only lot. Someone pulled out of the parking lot across the street and we took the corner spot. There was one, occupied, around the corner and a ramp to reach the level of the pinball museum. There were no handicapped spaces on the main street. However, we are in our 80's and I use a power wheelcchaiir. We were amazed the place was full of people paying $15 for unlimited play. Loved a baseball one we remembered where the metal players run around the bases for the hits you get. They’ve even got an adjacent sister restaurant called the Old Stone Steakhouse if you want a pre-drinks meal.We enjoyed our visit to this active museum even though our pinball history was in the 50's and they did not have too many working that were from that era. They’ve got whisky specials like The Jailhouse Hattan, which is their signature drink, a classic manhattan made with Basil Hayden’s bourbon VYA small batch sweet vermouth, Amarena cherries and angostura aromatic bitters. If you’re a fan of whisky and cigars then you’ll love probably find the membership fee well worth it. A day membership costs $2 and a annual membership costs $12. There is a bit of a catch with this speakeasy in that it’s members only. This cigar and cocktail lounge is located inside the cells of Downtown Belmont, NC’s former jail. This speakeasy does some gastropub food like their hand cut truffle fries, specialty and rare beers like their German Pilsner from the brewery, Resident Culture, and handcrafted cocktails like their Asian Pear with flavors of ginger and pear. The walls are in their original brick style and exposed ceiling. This underground space was built in 1912, which automatically adds to the unspoken Prohibition-style as much as the decor does. Don’t forget that the Manchester is right upstairs in case you want to get dessert or a snack before or after drinks. Their cocktails are elevated versions of the classics using premium ingredients and professional technique. The Prohibition-style cocktail lounge is ornate with lush lounge seating and a big bar where the magic happens by mixologist experts. In fact, we’d say it adds to the excitement. With your membership, you have to adhere to a strict dress code and follow some of their house rules, like waiting for drinks to be slowly and lovingly made to perfection, keeping an inside voice, and they recommend you make reservations in advance.
